Tree-compositions and orientations

چکیده
A tree-composition is a tree-like family that serves to describe the obstacles to k-edge-connected orientability of mixed graphs. Here we derive a structural result on tree-compositions that gives rise to a simple algorithm for computing an obstacle when the orientation does not exist. As another application, we show a min–max theorem on the minimal in-degree of a given node set in a k-edge-connected orientation of an undirected graph. This min–max formula can be simplified in the special case of k = 1. © 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Compositions of Tree-to-Tree Statistical Machine Translation Models
Compositions of well-known tree-to-tree translation models used in statistical machine translation are investigated. Synchronous context-free grammars are closed under composition in both the unweighted as well as the weighted case. In addition, it is demonstrated that there is a close connection between compositions of synchronous tree-substitution grammars and compositions of certain tree tra...
متن کاملCompositions of Bottom-Up Tree Series Transformations
Tree series transformations computed by bottom-up tree series transducers are called bottom-up tree series transformations. (Functional) compositions of such transformations are investigated. It turns out that bottom-up tree series transformations over commutative and א0-complete semirings are closed under left-composition with linear bottom-up tree series transformations and right-composition ...
متن کاملGraph and Union of Graphs Compositions
The graph compositions‘ notion was introduced by A. Knopfmacher and M. E. Mays [1]. In this note we add to these a new construction of tree-like graphs where nodes are graphs themselves. The first examples of these tree-like compositions, a corresponding theorem and resulting conclusions are provided. AMS Classification Numbers: 05A18, 05C05, 05C30, 11B37.
متن کاملRotated-Box Trees: A Lightweight c-Oriented Bounding-Volume Hierarchy
We introduce a new type of bounding-volume hierarchy, the c-oriented rotated-box tree, or c-rb-tree for short. A c-rb-tree uses boxes as bounding volumes, whose orientations come from a fixed set of predefined box orientations. We theoretically and experimentally compare our new c-rb-tree to two existing bounding-volumes hierarchies, namely c-dop-trees and box-trees.
متن کاملGrowth, Development and Yield in Pure and Mixed Forest Stands
Objective: Ecosystems with mixed species compared to the ones with pure compositions provide a broader range of options in the fields of biodiversity, conservation, protection and restoration. Nearly all forest plantations are established as monocultures, but research has shown that there are potential advantages to be gained by using carefully designed species mixtures in place of monocultures...
